A unique approach that works
My ultimate goal as a pet photographer is to capture the true personality of your pet. That's why before I begin shooting, I take a little time to make a genuine connection with your dog or cat (or rabbit or horse). I want your furry family member to feel comfortable. The other thing I do that's different from most other pet photographers is to conduct the shoot outside the studio. A studio is not a natural environment, and this is especially true for animals. Studios are artificial and sterile and often cause animals to feel uncomfortable, restless, and even agitated. On the other hand, a natural setting is conducive to bringing out the true essence of your pet. Using my approach, you and your pet will choose a natural location -- either at your home, in the park or even at the beach -- wherever your pet is comfortable and happy. Once that's decided, there's nothing left to do but wait for the big day!
What to expect on the big day
Before I begin shooting, I encourage you to share with me some of the activities your pet enjoys and to have a few of her favorite toys on hand. After that, it's important for me to have some "alone time" during the shoot so that I can get to know your pet on a one-on-one basis and have her undivided attention when I'm shooting. My experience has taught me that I usually get the best images during this time. Surprisingly, your four-legged friend probably won't need treats to have great pictures taken -- but they are welcome in more challenging situations.
You can expect alone time to last an hour to longer as it generally takes a little while for the two of us to establish a "working relationship". During this time, I'll be photographing your furry buddy doing whatever she does best -- whether it's relaxing, playing, or posing. Want a photograph of you or a family member with your pet? Just let me know, and I'll more than happy to shoot a few "family photos."
